The Inklings and
Star Wars
By Douglas Gabriel
The Imaginal Realm is filled with spiritual beings who speak a language of unity, joining together the multiplicity of individuals. Time and space are disenchanted in the living Imaginal Realm of angelic hosts through the freely given love of human Moral Imagination, Moral Inspiration, and Moral Intuition. That is why a wise fable, fairy tale, legend, myth, or archetypal idea can dissolve space and time by existing somewhere beyond space and time, which is often indicated by the words, ‘once upon a time, in a place far, far away,’ and often ends with, ‘and if things have not changed, they are still there today.’ Fairy tales are eternal lessons concerning the divine’s attempt to morally train humanity through simple Moral Imaginations that carry the message of love, beauty, truth, and goodness.
Inside this book, you will discover how The Inklings Challenge inspired Dr. Douglas Gabriel to create the adult fairy tale and the endearing characters of Star Wars. Dr. Gabriel shares his personal experience of collaborating for three days in the early 70’s with Marcia Lucas and a small team of anthroposophical students on the script of Star Wars and his discoveries about how that foundational work affected the writing, editing, and expansions of the original Star Wars trilogy.
